Being an Australian in Canada…these Canadians are pretty crazy about Turtles…Like the chocolate turtles not real Turtles. Turtles come out in boxes around Christmas time then once the festivities are all over…you never hear of them again until…..next Christmas.
But I genuinely like the caramelly, crunchy chocolate covered yummies. So I found a way to make them healthy, by throwing a slice of fresh crunchy Apple in the mix!
Find yourself 3 fresh, organic apples. Peal and slice them into 4 slices after de-coring.
Make some caramel;
2 tbs Brown Rice Syrup
1 tbs Almond Butter
5 Medjoul Dates
1 tbs Mesquite
1/3 cup Coconut oil
Put in your high powered blender and mix until creamy.
Evenly spread the caramel over the apple slices and lay down on a lined baking tray.
Roughly chop 80g of Almonds and sprinkle over the caramel
Make some Chocolate; may have some left over 🙂
3/4 cup Coconut oil
1/4 cup Maple
4 tbs Raw Cacao
1 tsn Vanilla
Pinch of Salt
Blend on low for 20 seconds in food processor.
Dip Caramel covered apple slices in chocolate, using two forks and lay back on your tray.
Put your tray into the fridge for about 15mins, so the chocolate can set.
Then your deliciously healthy Turtles are ready to be devoured.
